Graduating eighth graders have many options available for high school. Over the years, St. Cecilia students have chosen to attend many local high schools both private and public. Students choosing to attend a Catholic High School should plan to:
Attend an Open House at the school(s) of their choice (listed below)
Shadow at the school(s) of their choice (students must register at the High School) - Some possible dates to consider are Monday, October 14, Tuesday, October 15, Monday November 25 or Tuesday November 26 (when St. Cecilia is not in session). Please make sure to contact St. Cecilia when you are planning a shadow day. Students will be expected to make up any work missed while on a shadow day.
Take the Archdiocesan High School Entrance and Placement Test on the third Saturday in November. This year, it will take place on November 20, 2021.
Submit an application to that high school - Please note, that if your child has an Ohio EdChoice or Jon Peterson Scholarship, you MUST submit that paperwork directly to the high school. State requirements do not allow our school office to submit paperwork for a student who is not attending St. Cecilia.
Submit a release of records to St. Cecilia School so we may send the student's records to that school.
Archdiocesan High School Entrance and Placement Test
Each year, the Archdiocesan High School Entrance and Placement test will be given on a Saturday in November. Students MUST register to take the test at a local high school using the
online registration portal provided by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati- students can list up to 3 high schools where their scores will be sent. The text will take approximately 3.5 hours to complete (
please note that if students receive testing accommodations then the time may increase).
Many high schools offer test preparation courses for a fee to assist in preparing students for the test; interested parents should contact individual high schools if they would like more information regarding these courses.
Students who receive testing accommodations will be permitted to have those accommodations for this test. Parents should contact Mr. Goedde or Mrs. Shultz and let them know where their student is planning on taking the test prior to November 2 so we can send the proper paperwork to that school. Results from the test are shared with parents in January, at which time, high school acceptance and/or denial letters will be mailed as well.
Results from the test will be sent to parents via email on January 12. To best understand the score results, please visit
